For many people, a facial every 4 to 6 weeks is a useful maintenance rhythm — but it is not a rule every face has to follow. The right schedule depends on what you are treating, how reactive your skin is, what you do at home and whether you are preparing for a specific event.

For general maintenance: every 4 to 6 weeks

If your skin is generally stable and your goals are hydration, brightness, smoother texture and keeping congestion under control, a monthly-to-six-week schedule gives your esthetician regular opportunities to reassess and adjust.

For acne-prone skin: often every 2 to 4 weeks at first

Corrective acne plans may begin more frequently because the goal is to monitor new congestion, adjust homecare and avoid waiting until the skin is fully backed up again. As breakouts become more manageable, appointments can often be spaced farther apart.

For sensitive or barrier-impaired skin: less can be more

If your skin is irritated, over-exfoliated or highly reactive, the answer is not automatically “more facials.” Drea may simplify the treatment, focus on barrier support or increase the time between corrective services.

Before a wedding or event: plan backward

For an important event, do not wait until the last minute to discover how your skin reacts. A first facial 4 to 8 weeks ahead creates room to learn what works. The main pre-event facial is often scheduled 7 to 14 days before, with a familiar low-downtime treatment closer only when appropriate.

Consistency is useful; over-treatment is not. Your facial schedule should make your skin progressively easier to manage, not leave it permanently recovering from the last appointment.

How do you know you are coming too often?

How do you know you may benefit from more consistency?

Drea’s take: I do not put every client on the same four-week calendar. Some need closer acne follow-up, some do beautifully every six weeks, and some need a barrier break before we do anything corrective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a facial every month too much?
For many stable skin types, every 4 to 6 weeks is a reasonable maintenance rhythm. The treatment itself should still be customized so you are not repeatedly over-exfoliating.
How often should I get a facial for acne?
Acne-focused plans may start every 2 to 4 weeks, then spread out as the skin improves. Frequency depends on severity, sensitivity and the treatment being used.
How often should I get a Hydrafacial?
Many clients choose monthly maintenance, but the best schedule depends on skin goals, sensitivity and budget.
Can I get facials too often?
Yes. Too much exfoliation or too many aggressive treatments can irritate the skin. More is not always better.
Does AJ Aesthetics require a deposit?
Yes. The current booking deposit is 25% of the service total.
